Paintings
Inspired by tarot cards, this is the first painting in my tarot cards series. I chose to try and make one simple, recognizable item that represents not only the name of the card, but also the deeper meaning.
Using my own hand as a reference, I painted a disembodied hand. In this one I focused on subtle details, such as underneath the string there are additional details on the hand indicating the string has been there for a long time.
A bunch of small sunflowers. This challenged me to figure out ways to make sure each sunflower is seen as a distinct flower, and to ensure it doesn’t all become a mess of yellow.
I’ve always enjoyed painting words, and practicing copying different fonts. I used that in this painting, in combination to the flower/strawberry shading I’ve become very familiar with.
Painted back in 2022, this is my oldest and largest painting shown here. I really enjoyed working on marking off each grid, then painting each section to make a different landscape using only one color as the inspiration.

Acrylic on canvas board. Working on shading techniques.
Shading with atypical colors on hands.
Branching out from my typical medium of acrylic paint on maple wood or canvas board, I used scrap cardboard and newspaper to construct a study shelf. It is currently waiting to be painted with a variety of subtle floral motifs.
A large landscape. Working on adding texture to distant landscapes.
